Where exactly did you say you come from?

I write in English, I’m sure you’ve noticed. So now you’re probably asking yourself this question, “Where did that chick say she came from?” Actually, I never did. But here it is: I’m Norwegian. Awesome, right? Then the next question follows, “Then why isn’t she writing in Norwegian?” Good question! The thing is, I tried that (link’s in the column to your right), but honestly I’ve always found it easier to express myself in English. It’s an odd thing really, how my second language in many ways has turned into my first language. Okay, so my grammar might be a bit off and I might not always make sense, but I try. And hey, can you blame a girl for her errors when it’s been approximately 14 years since she had her first lessons on English grammar? Honestly, over the years these things tend to slip. When I think about it, I don’t even think I can tell you anything about Norwegian grammar either… Yeah, sucks to be me.

Anyway!  There are in fact several reasons as to why I prefer writing in English and they are:
1. English is awesome
2. The language is an extremely rich, with several different words describing even the smallest variation in meaning
3. It’s practically universal (and therefor gives me a wider audiece to spout my nonsense to) – To be continued at number  7
4. I’m comfortable with it
5. It puts a certain distance between me and the things I write
6. I already use it on a daily basis and I see no reason as to why I shouldn’t
7. In the not too distant future honestly I believe it will become the unofficial official language of the entire world!

So what was the reason for this post? To let you know why I write in English and to tell anyone that might think it’s a bad idea to keep their opinions to themselves. My love for the English language will not wither any time soon, so you might as well get used to it. If there are major errors in my writing you are free to point them out, but don’t expect me to get offended, or even care. I’m not perfect and deep down you all know that neither are you. So, let’s rejoice our errors and move on with our lives! :D

Until next time, keep working hard my little minions!

Ah, to say I dont envy you would be a lie. I’m 2 months away from handing in my thesis, and I desperately want to start working. to be able to buy a bottle of wine for more than 120 NOK, and not feel bad. To go out with friends and not care about the price of the food. To go to the theater, the movies, on vacation, camping. Whatever really.

Enjoy the moving, packing and generall livelyness of it!

I am looking forward to that too ;) I’m just happy I’m finished with my last semester – it was Hell. Still, Hell in a good way, we had a lot of fun too.. I’m just really ready to get started with my new life now, move into my new apartment and see old friends and co-workers :) I will enjoy it, trust me!
